I'm currently in The Gambia, West Africa, with 11 students who are taking the biennial field studies program that I lead here. I have been at St. Mary's College of Maryland since fall 1991, and am now Professor of Anthropology, Director of the PEACE program (Promoting Educational and Cultural Exchange), and honorary Commander of the Republic of The Gambia.
I have two boys from my first marriage (Adam, soon to be 16) and Andrew (15 in August). I plan to remarry in August to Professor Deborah O'Donnell (psychology professor at the college) during our
vacation in Ocracoke.
I've been extremely fortunate in my life, and am overall very happy to be doing what I'm doing. I have a couple of photos for you to share with others. One photo is from Belize, 2005, with Adam and Andrew [see other photo on photo page], the second [this photo] is from last fall in Thailand, where I was with a group of students visiting an Akha hill tribe village during the rice harvest.
